Outfitting for My Journeys
|
|
When going on adventures, it's important to have the right equipment, and to be prepared!
The first step in preparing for adventure is a trip to the doctor, to make sure I am in good health. A regular checkup is as important for pets as it is for people.
Since I am going to be outside on my adventures, and could be exposed to diseases carried by ticks, fleas, mosquitoes, and other animals, it was important that I had medicines to protect me. Vaccines protect me from some diseases, and other medications protect me from parasites. The doctor knew exactly what I needed to keep me safe and healthy, so I could enjoy myself and go on many adventures. While we were at the doctor's, they talked about "neutering" me. I don;t know what that means, but I suspect it will be an upcoming adventure.

Wobbles' Pet Tips: Regular Trips to the Veterinarian
It's important for pets to see the doctor regularly, just as it is
for people. Regular checkups can find little health problems before they
become big health problems, and also make sure all medications and
vaccinations are up-to-date. |
Once I had the okay from my doctor, I needed to get the proper equipment for my journeys. This meant a trip to the store!
My first trip to the pet store was fun. I met new people and saw lots of things I had never seen before. At the store, we found some things I would need for my adventures. I got a nice carrier, so I could safely travel in style. A collar to match the carrier was essential. And I needed a tag with important information on it, in case I ever got separated from my friends. Mine has my name and two phone numbers on it.
Once I had my new collar, tag and carrier, I had to go show them off to some of my friends! Here are pictures of me exploring my new carrier at my friends' house:

Here are some of the things that accompany me on my journeys: My soft carrier, collar (with bell and identification tag), water bottle, Mr. DeOgee, and a foldable dish for food or water. Notice that my collar, carrier, and dish are all my favorite color: blue! In the background, you can see my friend Allie (the calico on the left) and her mom, Gee (the gray and white one on the right), relaxing in cardboard boxes. I have a cushy bed, but they like the boxes better. |
Now that I have had my checkup and have all the proper gear, I'm ready to go on adventures. I hope you'll come back and read about my journeys. We'll have lots of fun seeing new things and learning about the world!
